This is a receipt from the Iwatani hydrogen station that opened at the Ashigara Service Area on the Tomei Expressway connecting Tokyo and Nagoya on September 15, 2023. It was the first hydrogen station to open at a highway service area in Japan, and it was a hot topic. According to the receipt, 2.93 kilograms of hydrogen were filled at a price of ¥1,100/kg, and 10% consumption tax was added, for a total of ¥3,545 ($23.91 USD).

This is a photo I found on Twitter that I didn’t know about either. It’s a sign for an Iwatani hydrogen station in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, which has the lowest sales price in the country. The price of ¥605/kg is the result of adding 10% consumption tax to the remaining ¥550 after the municipality of Shunan City subsidized ¥550 of the Iwatani retail price of ¥1,100/kg. 605 JPY is about 4 US dollars at today’s exchange rate.
